Picnic Shelters

Designated picnic shelters are available to the public at no charge, on a first come, first-served basis if not already reserved/booked. However, if you want to ensure you have a site, it is best to book ahead of time. Picnic shelters cannot be reserved without payment. Reservation signage is posted at the site to alert the public of times and dates that the picnic shelter will not be available for casual use.

Sheep River Park Picnic Shelter is located at 99 Woodhaven Drive in Sheep River Park along the riverbank, northeast of the Okotoks Lions Campground. There are three picnic tables inside the shelter and several around it on site. There is parking at the site, a playground and washrooms nearby; power is available upon request.

Cimarron Park Picnic Shelter is located at 175 Cimarron Drive. There are three picnic tables inside with 1 upright barbecue stand at the shelter (bring your own wood) plus two tables outside of the shelter. There is a playground nearby with washrooms and street parking.

The Rotary Picnic Shelter in Bill Robertson Park (1400 North Railway St.) is available on a first come, first-served basis only; it is not a bookable space.

Special event permits are required for bookings/events that have an impact on neighboring communities, that require equipment brought to the park/site, and/or are resourcing multiple Town services in order to facilitate the event. Other components of a special event include, but are not limited to, permits acquired from AGLC and/ or AHS, live music, a request to have mobile food vendors on site, high attendance (more than 60 people) and vehicle access to the park/facility. Inflatable play structures are not approved for use on Town of Okotoks property.
